    ABOUT EDQ

Answer: EDQ is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Answer: Entraide diabétique du Québec is a non-profit organization that has been collecting used clothing and items since 1994. Profits from the sale go to Diabète Québec to help it fulfill its mission: to support people living with diabetes in improving their well-being.

Answer: EDQ considers that it is more profitable to raise funds by supplying the Value Village than to manage all aspects of a retail store with the high costs that this involves.

Answer: No. We don’t operate a retail store. We only sell merchandise. Data from Recyc-Québec shows that over 70% of reusable clothing still ends up in landfills. There aren’t too many organizations collecting clothing: there aren’t enough!

    ABOUT DONATIONS

Answer: Yes. You can contact Diabète Québec association either by calling their toll-free number: 1-800-361-3504 or by visiting their website: https://www.diabete.qc.ca/en/

Answer: No. We cannot issue charity receipts for second-hand items according to the rules issued by Revenu Québec and the Canada Revenue Agency. However, we can issue receipts for monetary donations. Receipts are issued by the Diabète Québec association.

Answer: Items are sold to the Value Village and other partners.

Answer: Furniture requires a lot of storage and handling space. We prefer to allocate this space to clothing and small household items to achieve our objectives and fulfill our mission with Diabète Québec.

Answer: EDQ is a provincial organization. Our offices are located in Mirabel, Trois-Rivières and Quebec City, from which we cover a good part of the territory. Funds raised are redistributed to Diabète Québec and to various local associations with which we have developed partnerships.

Answer: You can contact healthcare professionals via the INFODIABÈTE hotline. Here’s their toll-free number: 1-800-361-3504 EXTENSION 233. You can also contact them directly by e-mail via their website: https://www.diabete.qc.ca/en/

Answer: It’s a chain of stores that supplies used clothing and goods. Value Village pays EDQ for the merchandise people donate. When people donate their items, they’re not just giving them a second life, they’re turning them into a sustainable source of funding for EDQ.

Note: Shopping in Value Village stores doesn’t support any nonprofit.
